Volunteer With Us
Every week and often on the weekend Gracing Spacers fill requests from local social workers helping their clients. It takes many hands and hearts to pack, track, and move the volume of goods that our clients need.
Wherever you are and whatever your skills, we'd love you to join us!

Haulers
The backbone of our work is moving furniture and home goods from donors to storage and then to our neighbors in need. Without our strong haulers we'd run out of furniture in a week. If you are able bodied and want to ride around in a pretty cool truck, come join our community and become one of our haulers!
- We pick up donations almost every day, so whenever you can help, you'll be a blessing to our community.
- We package orders and sort furniture on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the day. This takes a lot of hauling too! Don't worry, though, we take lots of snack breaks.
- We give out furniture to social workers on Wednesday mornings. We load their trucks because their jobs are hard enough. And we have coffee!
Pickers and Packers
We see our clients as people first, so we take pride in putting together furniture and other items that turn their space into a home. If you have a heart for your neighbors in need and like nesting or interior design, come join our community!
- Decorative touches (pillows, pictures, lamps, rugs) warm up a home. On Tuesdays, we tag furniture and select decor to go with that furniture, gracing our clients' new spaces!
- Cooking for yourself is healthier and eating on real dishes makes you feel at home, but you need the proper tools! On Tuesdays, we sort and package complete kitchens for our clients so they can eat healthy in their new home.
- Kids need clean and fresh clothes to feel a sense of dignity at school! On Tuesdays we sort and select childrens' clothing to meet the particular needs of our clients - there's a lot of different sizes of kids, so sorting and organizing takes lots of effort!
- There are other departments that need help too!
Shoppers
Our clients have urgent needs, and because we rely on donations, sometimes we run out of something essential. Our dedicated shoppers hunt down good deals on things like microwaves, kids' shoes, linens, baby products, and even twin beds so that our clients have everything they need.
- We firm up the requests for the next week on Friday, so our shopping happens on Saturday, Sunday and Monday! Our "thrifters" have a keen sense of where to find a bargain and help us keep costs down.
Organizers
The volume of goods that our haulers bring in is astounding, so we need folks with a keen sense organization to make it all fit in our storage space. We can't get our clients what they need if we don't know what we have, so we spend a lot of time keeping our spaces tidy and functional.
- We're always organizing, but most of the work happens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when we're packing and preparing client requests.
Clerical Helpers
We need to be able to tell our story to our local community, and that requires a lot of work behind the scenes. If moving furniture isn't your thing, but you're handy with Excel or Google Docs, boy do we have opportunities for you to help!
- Our clerical work can happen at any time and in any place that works for you!
Community Involvement
We partner with churches, synagogues, mosques, civic groups, and more who are eager to serve and give but don't know where to plug in.
