Gracing Spaces is led by an all-volunteer board that provides strategic direction, policy management, and fiscal oversight.
William Carey
William has been volunteering with Gracing Spaces since 2021. For fifteen years he taught Latin, math and science at a Christian school, and has also worked as a Geospatial Engineer. William’s first experience with the need for affordable housing came working with the Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity as a construction volunteer and supervisor. He continued his work on housing issues volunteering with Lutheran Social Services as they resettled Afghan Allies, and now works to make houses homes with Gracing Spaces. He and his wife Maren are members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Haymarket, Virginia.

Eileen Gwin
Eileen is a Cleveland transplant who’s been in Northern Virginia since 1984.ย As a retired school teacher, she fills her time volunteering at a local preschool and Gracing Spaces.ย She is happy to have found an organization who shares her passion of helping others and enjoys her time with the dedicated volunteers at Gracing Spaces.
Greg Fletcher
Greg Fletcher is a CPA with 35 years of experience and a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfax, VA. He has been volunteering at Gracing Spaces since 2016. After retiring from full-time employment, he chose to volunteer at Gracing Spaces to serve God and families moving out of homelessness that are in need of furnishings.
Terry Murtaugh
Terry is deeply committed to assisting those individuals who need a helping hand to turn their current living accommodation into a comfortable home. Terry assists the board with marketing, treasury matters, and searching for furniture/household donations and warehouse space in NVA. He volunteers his time to pick up furniture donations, and help load trucks to get needed items to the recipients. Although Terry is the oldest board member, he is also the biggest, baddest, and baldest in our esteemed group.
Directors
Jason Moore
Jason Moore is a lawyer and dad who lives in Fairfax and joined the Gracing Spaces board in 2024. He’s a graduate of Wheaton College and George Washington University, and over the years he has donated his time or legal work to a number of local and national organizations, from homeless shelters and refugee resettlement agencies to churches and schools. He previously served on the board of a local private Christian school. He and his family have attended Fairfax Community Church since 2004.
Joan Black
Craig Myers
Craig has resided in Fairfax County since 1981. He retired in 2019 after a 38 year career as a structural engineer in building design. Craig began volunteering with Gracing Spaces in 2008 and can frequently be seen behind the wheel of “Big Blue” and “Silver”. He is honored to be a member-at-large of the inaugural Gracing Spaces Board, and he is blessed to be part of a caring, spirited group of volunteers dedicated to helping families in need.
Jim Mueller
As he was leaving a meeting at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in 2015, Jim noticed other church members moving home furnishings in and out of the church basement. Almost before he finished asking if he could help, Jim found himself moving furniture, repairing vacuum cleaners – and generally ignoring the advice of his orthopedist. Along with his wife Bonnie, Jim has been a regular volunteer ever since and has been honored to serve on the inaugural Board of Directors when Gracing Spaces became a 501(c)3 organization in 2022.
