A Full and Festive Fall

The fresh fall weather seems to be boosting activity at Gracing Spaces! September was unusually busy, and community events in October have added to that momentumโ€ฆ
The Fairfax Fall Festival gave us an opportunity to share how we serve the community. Dorothy reserved our booth space, Linda made sure we had a good supply of โ€œswagโ€ for visitors, and Amy coordinated the volunteers to staff our booth. Volunteers Howard, Roz, and Scott staffed a booth at the Oktoberfest of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Meanwhile, we filled twenty requests for home goods, clothes, and furniture this week. Our clients included a family who lost everything in a house fire, a couple transitioning from a shelter to an apartment, and a hard-working dad who has โ€œstood strongโ€ for his children.
Thankfully, our volunteer team continues to grow. Several have scheduled times to tour our facility, meet the team, and figure out how they can add their talents and time. George and Barbara have joined our team that picks up donations. Weโ€™re so grateful for the willingness to serve! Each of our volunteers bring unique talents – Beautiful quilts made by Dorothy and cloth bags made by a friend of Jennie C. demonstrate our personal connection with our neighbors in need.

We deeply appreciate all those who pray for dignity and stability for the vulnerable in our community. May we work together to see ALL people as Godโ€™s beloved children. And may we remain steadfast in our duty to help, to serve, to love, and to hope.
