“Many hands make light work” is an idea rooted in Biblical history, as well as the cultures of ancient Greece and Rome, medieval England, and Africa. And we believe it’s one of the strengths that makes the work of Gracing Spaces possible. So we asked our “many hands” what led them to volunteer – and keep coming back…
“I started with GS doing a makeover for Mothers Day. Was hooked on the concept and being so welcomed by everyone!!!”
“…my greatest joy is seeing the smiles and sometimes happy tears of the clients when they receive the items they need to improve their lives.
“…it’s such a great group of wonderful, fun and dedicated volunteers that I’ve kept coming back.”
“I have seen the gracing spaces ‘blue” [truck] parked as I sped by on life’s busy treadmill and liked the name.”
“I am most moved by the dignity everyone is given, loving volunteers who work tirelessly with welcoming open hearts in all kinds of conditions.”
“It is a joyful place- a true ministry!”
Each client’s needs are unique, and each volunteer’s own skills and gifts are valuable:
“I come as I can but still feel appreciated for the little piece I give and donate.”
“The most rewarding part of my job in clothing is finding the little extras that make a nice wardrobe for a child vs just having clothes to wear.”
“…it seems I found my niche in selecting décor items to help clients’ homes look more complete.”
“…getting packages ready to welcome a new baby with everything they will need is such fun!”
If these volunteers’ words touch you, Gracing Spaces has a place for you.
We’re grateful this Thanksgiving, and every day, for the joy of sharing our gifts with our neighbors in need.
