The Joy of Service

Each week, we are reminded of the hardships of living on the edge of homelessness, including for the very young. Weโ€™re also reminded of the boundless kindness that can emerge to helpโ€ฆ
This week, three teachers reached out to us to assist a 19-year-old student at their school. She has been living in Virginia for 3 ยฝ years unaccompanied by her parents, who are in Guatemala. She is currently renting a room from a friend and working at the local carwash to afford the rental payment. Concerned that she is at risk of becoming homeless, her teachers are working hard to support her however they can. They came to us for a mattress, dresser, bedside table, and bed linens, which they picked up this week to help make her room a bit more like home.
In the midst of an affluent community, weโ€™re constantly reminded that for many, basic needs loom large. The ability to help is a joy that is difficult to describe until we experience it firsthand. We invite you to contact us and experience this joy for yourself.
